Kim Jones Exits Fendi After Four Transformative Years: What’s Next for the Fashion House?

Kim Jones, the creative force behind Fendi since 2020, is stepping down after four impactful years with the luxury fashion house. Jones, who succeeded Karl Lagerfeld after his passing, brought a distinct blend of contemporary style and historical references to Fendi, reimagining its Roman roots while integrating his own eclectic inspirations, such as the Bloomsbury Group. His tenure included several high-profile collaborations, including the popular Fendi x Skims partnership with Kim Kardashian in 2021, and a move away from using fur towards more sustainable materials.

Jones’ final collection for Fendi, showcased in September 2024, drew inspiration from the 1920s—the decade when Fendi was founded—highlighting modernism in fashion and design. He will remain at Dior Men, a role he has held since 2018, where his creativity will continue to influence the fashion world. Fendi has yet to announce Jones’ successor but promises a new creative direction for the brand in the near future.

This exit is part of a growing trend of leadership changes within major fashion houses, as several other brands like Chanel and Dries Van Noten are also undergoing transformations in their creative teams.

Jones’ contribution to Fendi is notable not only for his creative designs but also for driving the brand’s commercial success, with significant growth during his time at the helm. As LVMH’s fourth-largest fashion brand, Fendi will now begin a new chapter in its 100-year legacy
