Sacai’s Spring/Summer 2025: A Global Evolution with Parisian Elegance

Sacai’s Spring/Summer 2025: A Global Evolution with Parisian Elegance

At Paris Fashion Week, Chitose Abe unveiled Sacai’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, highlighting her signature approach to deconstruction and the fusion of classic wardrobe staples with avant-garde design. Known for her experimental take on fashion, Abe once again pushed boundaries by blending traditional elements with unexpected twists, creating pieces that felt familiar yet refreshingly new.

Color Palette

Abe kept it chic and minimalist, with black, white, navy, and olive dominating. However, pops of color appeared in the fringe details, injecting energy into the collection without overshadowing the core garments. Accessories remained minimal, allowing the intricate details of the clothing to take center stage.

Functionality and Artistry

The collection featured classic garments like peacoats, trench coats, and military surplus jackets, but these timeless staples were reimagined with couture-like embellishments. Abe’s talent for playing with proportions and silhouettes was evident in every piece, showcasing her vision of creating fashion that balances functionality and artistry.

Traditional Structure

One of the key highlights was how Abe transformed marinière sweaters, adding transparent panels and voluminous layers. This technique played with the traditional structure of garments, bringing a playful, yet sophisticated edge to the collection. Another standout element was the use of colorful fringe embellishments on mini-skirts and coats, which added vibrancy and movement to otherwise structured pieces.

“Le Smoking”

As the collection progressed, Abe ventured into eveningwear, presenting deconstructed versions of “Le Smoking”. These pieces offered a fresh and unconventional take on the classic black-tie look, embodying Sacai’s craftsmanship and avant-garde spirit.

“Parisian Couture”

Abe also reflected on the importance of Sacai’s growing presence in Paris, noting that this collection was influenced by the brand’s recent expansion into the city. The result was a series of looks that merged Parisian couture flair with Sacai’s global and forward-thinking approach to design.
