Burberry has recently unveiled an innovative new scarf made with Brewed Protein fibers
Burberry has recently unveiled an innovative new scarf made with Brewed Proteinâ„¢ fibers, a lab-grown material developed by the Japanese biotech firm Spiber. This marks a significant step in luxury fashion’s journey toward sustainability. The Brewed Protein fibers are created through a fermentation process that uses plant-based materials, like sugar cane and agricultural waste, to produce polymers that can be woven into textiles. The result is a circular, eco-friendly material.
Traditional luxury materials with next-gen innovation
This new scarf blends traditional luxury materials with next-gen innovation—it’s composed of 62% wool, 8% cashmere, and 30% Brewed Protein fiber, offering the same warmth and softness associated with Burberry’s heritage pieces, while pushing the boundaries of textile sustainability. The scarf is woven in Italy and features the classic Burberry B shield motif with twisted fringing, available in neutral tones like sand and monochrome.
Burberry is the first luxury brand to incorporate Brewed Protein fibers into its designs, setting a precedent for future eco-conscious fashion. This innovation aligns with Burberry’s continued efforts to reduce its environmental impact while maintaining the premium quality it’s known for.
