Magda Butrym Spring 2027 Collection

Magda Butrym Spring 2027 Collection

For Spring 2027, Magda Butrym brought her distinctly feminine vocabulary to New York for the first time, presenting her debut runway show at New York Fashion Week shortly after opening her first flagship in SoHo.

The move to New York prompted Butrym to explore the relationship between her Polish roots and the energy of the city. Her starting point was Natalia LL, the Polish multidisciplinary artist who moved to New York in the 1970s and became an important figure in feminist and conceptual art.

Butrym saw a parallel between LL’s journey and her own transition from Warsaw to New York. That tension shaped a collection that explored femininity through a softer, more layered lens.

After emphasizing outerwear, monochrome crochet, faux fur, shearling, bouclé, and dense knits for Fall 2026, Butrym returned to the sensuality that has defined her work, but with greater delicacy. Sheer fabrics, lingerie-inspired details, and apron-like layers replaced some of the heavier drama of the previous season.

The collection’s most distinctive new element was the apron. Butrym drew on memories of her grandmothers wearing them at home, transforming a familiar domestic garment into something distinctly contemporary. Cut primarily from sheer silk, the aprons were layered over lingerie-inspired slips and lace-trimmed separates, or styled beneath sharply tailored trench coats.

One floral version, rendered in cool cotton coated with latex, pushed the idea further, contrasting domestic nostalgia with a more provocative, urban attitude.

Butrym’s approach to layering also made the pieces feel adaptable beyond the runway. The sheer aprons could be worn over jeans and a T-shirt, while their combination with lingerie and tailored outerwear created a more sophisticated tension between intimacy and everyday dressing.
